Architecture Biennale 2007

The Air Freight folly is a beacon, drawing attention to the Architecture Biennale event within Rotterdam’s wider urban context.

Based on the countless industrial shipping containers that characterise this area of the city, the folly challenges contemporary perceptions of the commonplace by visually defying gravity. Comprised of several orthogonal balloons disguised as shipping containers, these helium filled structures are tethered to the real containers that exist within the site.

The striking appearance and high visibility of the folly offers excellent commercial opportunities, providing highly desirable advertising space for sponsors.
