Providing a new kitchen / diner to the rear of a terraced property, this project extends into the side return of the garden to make better use of residual space, natural light and exposure to the exterior. The garden itself was also included as an integral part of the project scope, and this has been treated as an extension of the interior. Defined by a pergola and a wall clad in decking at the rear, the height and width of these elements match those of the glazed opening. Various architectural devices were employed to further dissolve the internal and external relationship: uninterrupted full-height glazing, aligned floor levels, and a distinctive pink feature wall that extends into the garden.

The upstairs rear extension has also been reconfigured to create a new enlarged bathroom. Previously organised as a bathroom and separate WC, these two small rooms were opened up into a single, large family bathroom, creating the space to provide a spacious walk-in shower in addition to the bath.
