With Wilkinson Eyre Architects

Commissioned by DfES to design a flexible exemplar secondary school, this project sets out a template to be adapted for multiple edge-of-town sites. This was achieved by using a loose-fit 'kit of parts' architectural strategy, breaking the school up into several smaller buildings connected by a spacious central concourse. Coined the 'Agora', this space provides a covered area for circulation, play, socialising, and sheltered passage between the buildings.

Teaching rooms are grouped into Learning Clusters; two-storey buildings that have been sized to provide inherent flexibility in accommodating both standard classroom sizes and school organisational models, allowing the school to be grouped by department, house, or year.
